The generic domain name Ad.com sold for the hefty sum of $1.4 million yesterday - ranking it among some of this year's top-selling premium names.
During domain name registrar Moniker's recent Traffic convergence in Silicon Valley California, the name was sold via auction, reports TechCrunch.com.
The address' savvy new owner is Directi.com's Divyank Turakhia, who is chief executive officer of domain parking company Skenzo. This suggests that the name will be an investment opportunity for the entrepreneur, though the scope to develop it is also great.
Overall, Moniker's auction laughed in the face of the recession and raised more than $2 million in domain name sales, with BottledWater.com selling for $45,000 and Athletic.com being snapped up for $40,000.
Considering the domain name has been valued so highly, only time will tell what similar premium domain name Ads.com, which is still available for purchase, will fetch when it is sold.
