24th February 2009 Adviser: Anyone can buy a domain name
Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
Not enough people are informed as to the benefits of buying a domain name, it has been claimed.
Investing in a piece of internet real estate by buying up a premium domain name is not only exclusive to businesses, states Jamie Zoch, writing for DotWeekly.com, but can benefit individuals as well.
Domain names can be used as a base for a private email server, rather than using a system such as Hotmail or Googlemail, Mr Zoch informs.
They can also be an alternative to traditional investments, he adds, as selling them on at a later date could see a hefty return on the original sale price.
He writes: "A domain investor owns domain names that are generic in terms. Instead of owning a trademarked term, domain investors own domain names like Loans.com, PersonalLoans.com and not domains like CitiBankLoan.com."
Other things that can be done with a domain name include keeping a blog, family photo log, or advertise personal talents or business ideas, Mr Zoch suggests.
Many generic domain names, as highlighted by Mr Zoch, are still available to buy online. Particularly valuable domain names for potential investors may be DigitalPhotography.com or CreativeName.com.
