Can you pick a generic domain name winner?

Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com

Businesses and entrepreneurs need not be the only winners when it comes to generic domain name auctions - at least not when Domain Consultant is involved.

The agency is inviting domain name experts in the US to pit their wits against each other and try to second guess the bidders in its forthcoming auction at Aftermarket.com.

Each competitor will win points for guessing correctly as to whether a domain name will sell or not, with some names worth more than points than others, Domain Name Wire reports.

Whoever has the most points at the end of the auction will win a prize of $1,000. However, even that generous prize will not be enough to place a bid for the most expensive name at the auction - AutoFinding.com - which has a reserve price of $1.65 million.

For those not taking part in the auction, there remains a huge range of choices when it comes to automotive-themed generic domain names - at prices to suit all businesses.

The valuable DieselFuel.com will set bidders back at least £250,000, but AutoPartManufacturers.com can be snapped up from as little as £3,300.
