The 2009 Hyundai Genesis has received the first ever Car of the Year Award from the generic domain name.
It was singled out for its size, luxury, affordability and fuel-efficiency.
One of the judges for the awards, Joe Wiesenfelder, explained the choice: "In these sober, often somber times, it's nice to find a new car that isn't solely practical. The Genesis definitely is a practical choice, but it's also a car you can get excited about."
Other models in the running for the accolade were the Audi A4, Honda Fit, Mazda 6, Nissan Murano and the Subaru Forester.
Cars.com recently offered some good news to the motoring industry as it revealed that traffic to the site rose by 19 per cent during the first week of January compared to a year previously.
This, it stated, may indicate that interest in cars is picking up despite the recession.
