Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
Online applications firms looking for a premium domain name have an opportunity to purchase Cloud.com later this month.
SYS-CON Events, which is organising the Cloud Computing Expo in New York, has revealed that the name will be auctioned off during the conference, reports Domain Name Wire.
Cloud.com, which was registered at the turn of the century, became very desirable after the dot.com boom.
It is currently owned by Scott Heiferman, the co-founder of Meetup.com.
While it was initially limited in its uses, the growth of cloud computing has led it to become one of the web's valuable domain names.
It is not yet known how much the internet real estate will sell for, although it has been suggested that a seven-figure sum is a possibility.
Those looking to expand their computing domain name portfolio might wish to look at acquiring CollaborationTools.com or Disks.com, which are being auctioned off with starting prices set at £5,000 and £45,000 respectively.
