It has been announced a generic address will be auctioned next month with a $1 million reserve.
The versatile Cold.com will go under the hammer in late November on behalf of brokerage firm Patent Kinetics.
Bob Weber, managing director of the firm, highlighted the many possibilities offered up by the name and said the company predicts it will attract "exceptionally strong interest".
He continued: "Marketing, brand management, public relations professionals and other executives should carefully evaluate how unique the Cold.com domain name and web presence could figure prominently in their efforts to extend brand equity."
Mr Weber then went on to list the possible uses of the generic address Cold.com, including the marketing of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, dairy products, winter sports, computer software and home heating systems.
Other single-word generic domain names to have sold for high amounts are Vodka.com, Business.com and Fund.com, which recently fetched almost $10 million through a private sale.
