Former domain catcher Gordon Martin has been talking about his new venture which has a focus on country codes, DN Journal has reported.
The domain industry entrepreneur said country codes (ccTLDs) were "seriously underestimated and seriously undervalued", in the online news journal.
While .coms remain the most valuable of the generic domain name stock the highest-value domain name sale of 2008 so far is Fund.com at $9,999,950 Mr Martin said ccTLDS "represent one of the best opportunities in domain investment today".
People beginning an internet real estate portfolio may find them a stepping-stone to the more lucrative .coms, for example.
Mr Martin said consumers are more likely to trust companies with local and national domains over global enterprises. Additionally, more businesses sell goods within countries than internationally.
The third-highest value domain name so far this year was both a generic domain name and a ccTLD Cruises.co.uk. It was sold in a private deal for $1,099,798 in February.
