DataRecovery.com sells for $1.7m

This week was another week for the generic domain name industry to celebrate as it emerged another such site had changed hands for well over a million dollars.
The St Louis Business Journal reports today that ESS Data Recovery has acquired DataRecovery.com for an estimated $1.7 million (£857,000) for use with its business within a competitive IT market.
It is reported that the company has made the purchase in an attempt to not only set up an easily searchable site which clients could also discover via direct navigation, but also to set the company apart from an increasing number of businesses offering similar services.
ESS confirmed the acquisition on Thursday and for the meantime the DataRecovery.com address will be used to direct clients to the firm's existing site ESSDataRecovery.com.
The purchase highlights the growing number of companies looking to boost their brand and optimise their marketability with a generic domain name.
