28th March 2008 Direct navigation domains 'more visited than you would think'

A number of web users are still avoiding search engines and using direct navigation domain names, one expert has noted.
In an article for WebProNews.com, Mike Moran argues that certain generations of web users will find what they need on the web by typing in a guessed address - making generic domain names more valuable to make use of this traffic.
Mr Moran states that there is a likelihood that people less familiar with the internet are likely to take their chances on direct navigation domains rather than search and gives the example of NiceDiamondRing.com as an entry that someone would typically make.
"You might think that there are very few people who skip the search engine and type in that weird domain name, but you'd be wrong. It happens over a million times a day," he states, citing Sendori.com vice president of Sales, John Appler.
Sendori.com specialises in internet real estate and claims to generate 33 million monthly visitors.
