Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com

Businesses are being urged to invest in a generic domain name after experts revealed that the domain name and internet traffic industries will enjoy huge growth this year.

Speaking at T.R.A.F.F.I.C, a conference for the US domain name industry, internet analyst Michael Gilmour said that domain channel advertising is predicted to grow by 37.5 per cent by the end of the year.

He added that the amount spent on online advertising will increase by 15.1 per cent over the course of 2007.

Rick Schwartz, cofounder of the Florida-based conference, said: "This analysis underscores that domains and internet traffic will continue to be highly lucrative for some time for those who understand them."

Meanwhile, Paul Wilson, manager of domain name seller e21.com, has warned that firms who want to buy a generic domain name should do so as soon as possible.

"It is getting harder and harder to find high quality domain names," he said.

"The lucky owners who have them, don't sell them, because they are making good money with them, and they are strongly appreciating in value

"Only a tiny number of quality domain names comes on the open market."
