Drugstore.com has 'successful' final quarter

Pharmaceutical supplier Drugstore.com, which runs from a premium domain name, has announced that its profits for the fourth quarter of 2008 were encouraging.
Following a quarter which saw record sales of over-the-counter drugs, Drugstore.com announced that its quarterly profits, which are the firm's first, hit $289,000 in December.
Total sales amounted to $93.9 million, compared to $91.3 million during the same time in 2007, a positive sign considering the current recession, stated chief executive Dawn Lepore.
She added that the months ahead may prove to be tough, but 2009 began on an encouraging high note.
Last November, the generic domain name struck up an agreement with Medco Health Solutions which will see its customers being offered Drugstore.com products by the middle of this year.
