Owners of generic domain names have voted Escrow.com as the best website for domain name escrow transactions.
The study, conducted by Domain Name Wire, found that Escrow.com was favoured by 46 per cent of respondents.
Meanwhile, Sedo came second and Moniker third, with 34 per cent and 11 per cent of the vote respectively.
EscrowDNS and Afternic also appeared in the survey.
Similar generic domain names available to buy for companies in this field currently include ContractBusiness.com and ContractFulfillment.com.
Escrow services are used to safeguard financial transactions for both buyers and sellers involved in domain name investment.
For a fee, the service ensures that domain name is under control before payment for the website takes place.
In a recent interview with Domain Name Wire, Escrow.com president Brandon Abbey said the company, which was founded in 1999 by Fidelity National Financial, is always on the lookout for fraud.
"We have been involved in the reporting and takedown of well over a thousand fraudulent escrow websites," he said.
