FreeShipping.com has recorded record results for the weekend of the Thanksgiving holiday, it has emerged.
The website, which is a branch of the Clarus Marketing Group (CMG), said today that over the past weekend, enrolment levels for the company's Insiders Club had been higher than ever before.
Vincent Villano, managing director of CMG, said that free shipping was something that was vital for online retailers to offer if they are to compete in the market and that he was pleased with the figures for the Thanksgiving period.
"FreeShipping.com member enrolments reached an unprecedented level on Cyber Monday," he said, referring to the Monday following the Thanksgiving weekend, which is thought to be one of the most popular online shopping days of the year.
"It's well known that free shipping is one of the most powerful tools an online merchant has to drive sales for their store. These results bear that out," he added.
The site provides its users with online shopping benefits including price protection, free return shipping and extended warranties.
Some of the online retailers the group deals with are Target.com, WalMart.com, HSN.com and BestBuy.com, among others.
