5th March 2009 Generic domain name goes for $80,000
Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
The savvy new owner of a piece of prime internet real estate has invested $80,000 in buying the generic domain name Claims.com.
NameMedia, the parent firm of registrars Afternic and BuyDomains, executed the sale, which was just one of the 400 it completed last week, reports Domain Name Wire.
Along with similar examples HealthInsuranceProvider.com and CheapInsuranceQuotes.com, Claim.com could be used as a source for advice on insurance.
It could also provide a memorable and traffic-catching online base for a company dealing in compensation claims, or simply providing advice on the issue.
Claim.com is only one of several generic domain names to go under the hammer for a high price of late.
Others include FreeQuotes.com, which was sold for $200,000 and Forums.com, which attracted a buyer to invest $400,000.
