GiftCardDonor.com has announced that it will collect peoples' unwanted gift cards and sell them at a discounted price this holiday season, with proceeds going to charities as they grapple with recession.
Around ten per cent of the $90 billion worth of Christmas cards sold this year will not be used.
Therefore, the site has come up with this plan in order to turn the situation around to the advantage of charities, which will receive 75 per cent of the revenue generated.
Some of the organisations involved include the Goodwill of San Francisco, the Central Ohio Diabetes Association and the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
According to Chris Thorn, director of charity services for the website, "it is as if we have been collectively socking away all this gift card money for a rainy day and now, it's pouring!"
In other domain name news, generic website WithoutaFather.com was recently launched in order to provide resources and advice for those children and teenagers growing up without the guidance of a father figure in the US.
