Engineering director of Google's Android project Steve Horowitz has resigned from his post to join the ranks at a firm operating from a premium generic domain name.
Mr Horowitz is to join Coupons.com and assume the role of chief technology officer, after resigning from major global technology corporation Google.
Explaining the decision to move to the premium domain name, he said: "The company is at a pivotal point in its business and I am eager to help further advance its development and deployment of new platforms and services for digital promotions."
According to the generic domain name's figures, $300 million worth of coupons were printed from the site last year - a figure up by 140 per cent compared to 2007.
Mr Horowitz is not the first executive to leave his firm to take a position with a company operating from a generic domain name.
In December, Howard Hochhauser resigned as the chief finance officer of the Martha Stewart magazine to take up the same role with Ancestry.com.
