Freeshipping.com has announced that it has seen a surge in registrations in the approach to Christmas.
October 2008 saw registration to the site surge by 300 per cent compared to the same time in 2007 as the recession kicks in during the run up to Christmas.
The site, run by marketing and internet services firm Clarus Marketing Group, provides users with the opportunity to save on delivery charges when purchasing items from a variety of retailers, including Wal-Mart, Dell and Best Buy.
Managing director of Clarus Vincent Villano pointed out that online shoppers are increasingly "looking for deals".
"Clearly, free shipping is the number one driver of e-commerce, so the basic premise of our programme is perfectly aligned with consumers' desire to save this holiday season," he furthered.
Last week, another generic website Hawaii.com reported that it has improved the appearance of its site and enhanced its services to give consumers looking for information on the state a better experience.
