LA Insurance has made a domain name investment and purchased LAInsurance.com for $100,000.
It was acquired from Name Media, the parent company of BuyDomains and Afternic, reports Domain Name Wire.
The online portal suggested that the deal makes "perfect sense" to the buyer.
While LAInsurance.com might be a geo insurance name, the LA does not refer to the geography of the firm.
The company currently has 150 different locations and trades from LAInsuranceAgency.com.
Consequently, purchasing the new internet real estate will only cost an average of $133 per store for the next five years.
The purchase could provide the Detroit-based company with a significant increase in online traffic.
LAInsurance's founder is now on the Whois.net record as the owner of the domain name, though the name servers are yet to be changed.
Other insurance companies looking for internet real estate might wish to purchase CheaperCarInsurance.com or UKInsuranceQuote.com, which have starting prices of £60,000 and £3,300 respectively.
