Premium generic domain name Alarm.com has announced that it recently bought out its majority owner.
The company acquired MicroStrategy in a $27.7 million cash payment last Friday, with assistance from private equity firm Egis Capital.
Steve Trundle, chief executive officer of the generic domain name, stated: "Alarm.com is now in an optimal position to ensure that our security industry partners and customers will continue to have the most advanced and cost-effective security and monitoring technology solutions."
Using email notifications, text messages and voicemails, Alarm.com alerts individuals and businesses to break-ins or disasters that have triggered alarm systems around the office or home.
In 2003, it became the first firm to implement a digital wireless signalling solution including PDA technology and internet-based security monitoring.
Similar firms that are hoping to create an increased online presence may like to consider buying up some valuable internet real estate and purchase a similar name, such as Offices.com or AlarmSystemMonitoring.com.
