15th June 2010 Multi-million dollar sale of Slots.com
Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
The biggest sale of 2010 so far has been reported. Slots.com has been bought for about $5.5 million by BodogBrand, a venture capital and licensing organization. This makes it one of the top 10 most expensive domain name purchases ever.
Calvin Ayre, founder of the Bodog brand, says he considers Slots.com to be the second best gaming domain in the world, after Casino.com, “because there are no strong brands in this space”.
It is expected that BodogBrand will license Slots.com to selected online gaming operators.
Another recent large sale was Cheesecake.com, which went for $100,000. This goes to show that decriptive domain names are big business for those lucky enough to own them.
