Generic domain name FreeQuotes.com has been sold for $210,000, it has been revealed.
The premium domain name was sold by Network Solutions and snapped up by a lucky buyer who now owns a piece of valuable internet real estate.
FreeQuotes.com, like other generic domain names such as WarrantCheck.com and LowPrices.com, could provide a versatile, traffic-attracting and memorable base for a business hoping to increase its online profile.
It could be used for a great variety of purposes, including to offer people free quotes on DIY jobs, insurance policies, personal finance schemes or even travel resources such as car rental.
Currently, it offers users in the US the opportunity to receive and compare free insurance quotes.
Another premium generic domain name which was sold for a recession-busting price this week was Forums.com, which raised $400,000.
