RealEstate.com acquires new assets

Generic website RealEstate.com has expanded its business horizons with the recent acquisition of certain assets of online real estate firm New Homes Realty.
New Homes Realty, which operates in 11 metro areas and developed the generic website NewHomes.com, will now ensure that RealEstate.com expands into new areas, including Florida, Texas and Washington DC.
The move also means that RealEstate.com will take control of the operation of New Homes Realty's network of websites.
Bret Violette, president of RealEstate.com, commented: "'The acquisition of New Homes Realty assets is a perfect fit with our growing RealEstate.com […] division. The company had a long-standing reputation as being one of the best brokers in the new homes segment."
He added that this means the firm can now "better compete for and service those looking to purchase a new home".
In related developments, it was announced last month that drugstore.com is to team up with Medco Health Solutions by the middle of 2009 to expand the range of pharmaceutical products it offers its customers.
