Local.com, a major local search site and network, has released positive results concerning its performance during the third quarter of 2008.
The site's revenue per thousand visitors was up by 65 per cent from the same timeframe in 2007 as the firm saw an increase of nine per cent compared to the second quarter of this year.
It also experienced record amounts of traffic, with 54 million unique visitors per month - a figure which stood at 29.5 during the same quarter of 2007.
Organic traffic also hit record highs, standing at 27 million unique visitors on a monthly basis.
Heath Clarke, the site's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Local.com grew its direct advertiser base, expanded its distribution network and materially increased organic traffic during the third quarter."
However, he added that "visibility has become very limited" for the next quarter as the financial crisis takes hold.
In related generic domain name ventures, MovieTimes.com recently appointed a new chief executive officer.
