A new domain name survey devised and undertaken by a professional has revealed some of the trends of the industry at present.
Writing for the Predictive Domaining website, Barry Goggin surveyed 100 pages in order to determine how many owners choose to utilise them.
Mr Goggin found that 25 per cent of pages were parked, 71 per cent featured some kind of other information and four per cent were blank.
Among the "commercial" and "premium domain names" examined, Mr Goggin said he was "surprised" that a quarter were parked, as this means the owner is missing out on "significant potential revenue".
He added that 12 per cent redirected their visitors, which "trust issues" brought about by a consumer being redirected to a different address other than the one they typed originally.
Further advice distributed on domain names of late includes that from DN Journal, which stated that generic domain names are significantly valuable and are the online equivalent of "prime real estate".
