3rd April 2009 Reuters: Domain name practicalities
Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
Global news provider Reuters has published some advice on choosing an effective and lucrative domain name.
It advises that when starting a business "it may be prudent to do so with the internet in mind" and that choosing a strong domain name may give them "the potential to reach more consumers".
The news provider also states that the closer a domain name is to describing the services a business offers, the better.
Additionally, Reuters advises, "using a product or service descriptor, like window-washing.com, may more effectively attract new or potential customers."
Considering mistakes that surfers may make while typing the name may also pay dividends, it points out, as registering these and diverting them to the main site may prove to be lucrative.
Domain names, it further highlights, must be registered through a valid firm.
Businesses on the look out for a patch of prime internet real estate may like to purchase a generic domain name, such as Offices.com or HallRentals.com, as they are known for their traffic-catching and easy-to-remember qualities.
