A survey carried out by Salary.com has revealed the feelings of employees in the US during the current economic downturn.
The poll found that superiors are overestimating job satisfaction levels among their employees, as it questioned both workers and their managers during the research.
It discovered that 65 per cent of employees are content in their positions, while their superiors predicted that this figure would be 77 per cent.
Overall, 65 per cent of those polled are currently looking for new jobs, while their managers estimated that this figure would be 37 per cent.
Nicolas Camelio, senior vice president of human resources at the generic domain name, stated that this survey highlights how out-of-touch employers are with their staff at such a crucial time.
"This could lead to their best employees defecting during the next year, just when this talent will be most needed to help turn businesses around," he added.
Last month, Salary.com's chief executive officer for compensation and talent management Kent Plunkett presented an award at the annual Needham Growth Stock Conference in New York.
