Salesforce.com has announced the unveiling of a new site, Force.com that is to join with social network sites in order to merge business applications with those on Facebook.
Deciding to utilise increasingly popular social networking channels, Salesforce.com has announced it is to develop Force.com, which will integrate its parent site's business applications with Facebook's 260,000 applications.
Furthermore, Salesforce.com's applications will also be loaded onto Amazon Web Services and stored on the cloud where they will be available for free.
Salesforce.com's chief executive Marc Benioff stated that consumers can now allow Salesforce.com to run their applications, rather than using hosting services from third parties and taking on applications that may be outdated.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Salesforce.com may pose an increasing threat to large software firms in the future as it introduces planning tools that convert applications in Notes onto its own hosted platform.
