Those with internet investment portfolios may be interested in news that spending on search marketing tactics has risen by nearly a third this year.
A 30 per cent increase on search engine optimisation, pay-per-click, search engine marketing and other internet marketing devices was recorded by MarketingSherpa this week.
The information was published in the 2009 Search Marketing Benchmark Guide, which features "explorations of what's working, what's not and what's on the horizon," according to research director Stefan Tornquist.
This may indicate a competition in the internet industry is getting more intense which may push entrepreneurs into looking for new ways to bring traffic to their site, for example by purchasing generic domain names.
Generic domain names such as Fund.com, DataRecovery.com and Cruises.co.uk have been exchanged for seven-figure sums this year, indicating the business is booming.
Recently the marketing manager of Travel.co.uk discussed the benefit of search engine optimisation to the new holiday site while DN Journal's editor said "killer domain names" will get a site noticed.
