A generically named consumer shopping website has become involved in a deal with a major online advertising service, it has emerged.
The eBay-owned Shopping.com has reached a new deal with Proximic that will see the website's 50 million advertising units incorporated into the company's contextual content delivery services, according to the Cnet.com news blog.
It is thought that Proximic's unique matching system will now be capable of aiding site owners and bloggers in monetising their sites by syndicate the product catalogues Shopping.com as well as that of Yahoo's Shopping Network.
In October last year, Proximic's founder and chief executive Philipp Pieper told the website that the system allows web users to click on text that brings up specially targeted articles and advertisements using "interconnected patterns".
The deal with Shopping.com could significantly boost the site's money-making capabilities as the generically named service is one of the top three shopping comparison sites on the net.
