Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
Business owners in the USA have been discussing their choice of domain name and how effective they have been, in an article by Thomas Gaudio on NJBiz.com.
Speaking to the author, vice president of web design company the Boulevard Group Mark Beck said businesses should think a lot about their domain name as it is "your business name on the internet".
Names that are easy to remember are likely to be the most successful, as are .com domains suggesting buying a high-value .com generic domain name may well be worth the investment.
Companies should also protect themselves against typosquatters by buying up domains with similar or misspelled names.
Also talking to NJBiz.com was the American Photographic Instrument Company, which opted for X-Tend Technologies for its online name and domain but now believe it may have been difficult for customers to find.
"I thought I was going to be cute. In the end, I'm not quite sure that was the best way to go," said the owner.
Recently, DN Journal said geodomains would be beneficial to local media companies such as newspapers.
