Domain name news brought to you by DescriptiveDomainNames.com
The new year has started with a number of major sales in the field of generic domain names, a new report has revealed.
According to industry news website DN Journal, the first week of 2008 saw high-value transactions on a selection of generic addresses despite the week being cut short by New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
It was noted that despite a "predictably slow" week, Spicy.com was able to generate a price of $81,000 at an auction conducted by Moniker.com that took place at the InterNext conference.
Currently Spicy.com is hosting a number of links to other sites including FriendsOverFifty.com, Passion.com and Make Friends online although it is not yet clear what the future of the generically named domain will be.
Other sites sold at auction in the first week of the new year included SeatBelts.com which traded at an auction conducted by Sedo.
