Generic domain name TV.com, which was recently upgraded, has reported an impressive surge in traffic and viewing levels for last month.
The site saw a 4,435 per cent rise in the number of minutes viewed in January, along with a 1,261 per cent increase in the number of videos streamed.
It also reported a 263 per cent rise in the number of visitors it attracted last month.
These figures suggest that the site has benefited significantly from the revamp it received from owner CBS of late, as it reported a 55 per cent reduction in unique viewers as recently as November 2008.
Perhaps the site's recent success is partly associated with it being a generic domain name - such addresses are often regarded as being slices of prime internet real estate.
Meanwhile, for those companies that deal in TVs or entertainment, generic domain names such as EntertainmentUnit.com and OnlineTVShow.com are still up for grabs.
