Generic domain name sales have proved themselves to be back on top form this week after the sale of Physicians.com hit the $250,000 mark.
The latest in a line of high-value premium domain name sales, Physicians.com was sold in a private transaction and snapped up by Richard Gabriel.
Mr Gabriel is clearly no stranger to domain names, having sold Auction.com last month for a $1.7 million - the third-highest priced sale of 2009 so far, according to Domain Name Journal's year to date chart.
Physicians.com, which is in the same health-related category as Calories.com and BladderStones.com, could be used as an online directory of medical professionals. Alternatively, it could provide a base for medical advertisements or queries into health.
According to Robert Orr, who was recently writing for DomainInformer, the best type of domain names to buy are premium domain names, as these generate the most revenue and traffic for businesses and investors.
