Choosing a good domain name plays an important role in the online success of a company, it has been claimed.
Mark Jackson, writer for searchenginewatch.com, posted an article on how businesses can get the most from the domain names.
Mr Jackson wrote of a particular case in which a business changed its domain name to one which had "five keywords crammed together".
This, he highlighted, does no good for branding, SEO optimisation and memorability.
A well-chosen domain name also pays for itself if companies calculate how much money they earn back through advertisement hosting, Mr Jackson argued.
He added that those owning concise and top-level .com domain names will come out on top when it comes to getting large volumes of type-in traffic.
Mr Jackson's advice correlates with the recent success and expansion of generically-named websites Recorders.com and Local.com.
