Some of the big sales this past week, apart from the ubiquitous Business.com which sold for a whopping $350 million, included generic domain names such as Debit.com and SweatPants.com.
Sedo, a domain sales site, is currently holding its first live domain auction at GreatDomains.com with one big sale already being made in the shape of StockQuotes.com which went for $150,000 while Whisky.com got sold for $125,000.
High reserves have been placed on a long list of generic domains, including: USCitizen.com, MedicalRecord.com, ComputerClass.com, LicensePlates.com and Measurements.com.
Sedo recently revealed that it has just brokered the sale of Chinese.com for £1 million.
"Domain name sale prices often follow trends in the marketplace and Chinese.com certainly indicated the massive economic interest in China," says Matt Bentley, chief strategy officer for Sedo.
In comparison, the firm's highest domain sold with the lesser suffix .info only managed to reach $116,000.
