Owners of businesses looking to corner their market online ought to invest in as many relevant domain names as possible, according to one business owner.
Scott Alliy, who owns FindaSeminar.com, which offers a search service for those looking for training courses, did exactly that when he got his own website off the ground.
With the internet offering both low business entry costs and the ability to view the activities of competitors, he decided to take the next step and buy a range of generic domain names.
He now owns more than 900 websites and domain names under the banner of TrainingNewsNetwork.com, including sites such as TrainingBrochures.com and SeminarBrochures.com.
On the TrainingNewsNetwork.com landing page itself, visitors can read updates from the sites and click through to be taken to the relevant portal.
"Since domain names are one-of-a kind it is practically the only thing that internet business competitors can't copy," said Mr Alliy.
