A premium domain name has been chosen to host a new service allowing users to visit and buy oil paintings, it has emerged.
OilPaintingsOnline.com hopes to generate enough revenue from its easy-to-find internet real estate to offer artists the opportunity to upload and advertise their work for free.
It is reported that OilPaintingsOnline.com will offer visitors looking to buy hand crafted art works over the web the chance to register and contact artists whose work they may be interested in.
According to a statement from the OilPaintingsOnline.com, once registered users can make use of the facilities available on the site - which can easily be found through a search engine or by using its status as one of the web's direct navigation domains.
"The site will be marketed through Google as well as the other major engines, it will also feature on specialist directory and art resource sites to encourage an active user base," the statement said.
OilPaintingsOnline.com was set up due to the level of demand for art experienced by the sites owner, who had previously held successful sales using eBay.
