Webcam.com steps over the $1m mark

An auction headed by domain name auctioneer Rick Latona has ended in success with the $1.02 million purchase of WebCam.com.
Held by Rick Latona, the generic domain name sold in a silent auction for an astounding $1,020,000 and represents the latest in a long line of high-value domain names sold over the last year.
No doubt the sale of premium domain name WebCam.com, has left some businesses disappointed they did not pip the top bidder to the post.
The versatile domain name could have been a prized asset for firms selling webcams, software or even news agencies eager to keep up with online trends by providing up-to-date video content on their sites.
According to Domain Name Journal's year to date sales chart, some of the top selling web addresses of 2009 so far have been Fly.com, Body.com and Auction.com - all of which are generic domain names.
Other generic domain names, such as Camera.com and MobileWebCams.com, are still available for sale and could provide a similarly suitable address from which to run a camera-related business.
