28th November 2008 Why the domain name community should be cheerful

It has been claimed that those dealing in domain names have a lot to be thankful for this year.
As thanksgiving hits America this week, one industry expert writing for Domain Name Wire has pointed out what those in the industry have to smile about.
Firstly, he admits that "yes, domains are down," but they are "holding their values" and have a positive outlook.
The Yahoo-Google deal falling through is also a good thing, he states, as an execution of this would have meant further dominance of Google on "domainer margins".
Also "upstream and providers are doing what's necessary to clean up the parking channel", which is imperative for the channel's survival in the future, it was claimed.
Finally, the domain name community is going strong, with the industry being discussed in a large number of forums, on websites and at major convergences.
Supporting this claim, the writer announced that "traffic has steadily increased every month in 2008" for the Domain Name Wire website.
Another reason domain name owners have to be cheerful could be because of the recent demand for generic domain names as Sedo announced this week that it has sold several for high prices over the last year.
